Playbooks
Start with your trade’s playbook
A playbook is a free starter setup for your trade: the intake questions Studio asks before quoting, structure-only starter quote templates, and the setup nudges that matter. It never includes prices — Setell learns those from your own books.
Free to start · no credit card · structure only, never prices
What’s inside
What’s in every playbook
Three things, all structural. The playbook is the scaffold; the pricing comes from you.
Structure on day one. Your prices, not ours.
A playbook never includes prices. Day one it gives you your trade’s structure; connect QuickBooks and Setell learns from what you actually paid and charged — and shows its work on every line.

Playbooks, answered
What is a Setell playbook?
A free, Setell-curated starter setup for your trade. Applying one shapes how the product behaves for you on day one: the intake questions Studio asks before quoting, structure-only starter quote templates named for your kind of work, shop-profile hints in your vocabulary, and nudges toward the connections that matter (like QuickBooks).
Does a playbook include pricing?
No — never. A playbook is structure only: every price field starts unset. Pricing comes from your own data — connect QuickBooks and Setell learns from what you actually paid and charged, then shows its work on every suggested line.
Which trades have playbooks?
Nine clusters at the moment: Machine Shop (CNC machining, fabrication, welding, prototyping), HVAC (installs, changeouts, service and repair, refrigeration), Landscaping & Outdoor (lawncare, tree service & arborists, hardscapes, synthetic turf), General Contractor (remodels, additions, punch-out, small commercial), Electrician (panel upgrades, new circuits, lighting, service and repair), Plumber (repipes, water heaters, drain and sewer, service and repair), Roofing (asphalt shingle, metal, flat and low-slope, repairs), Exterior Envelope (siding and cladding, windows and doors, roofing, gutters, trim), and Fencing (wood privacy, vinyl, chain link, aluminum, farm and ranch).
What if my trade is not covered?
Setell still works — playbooks are a head start, not a requirement. Any service business that quotes from email can start without one, and the pricing engine learns your trade from your own QuickBooks history and signed quotes either way.
How do I apply a playbook?
From any of Setell’s three surfaces: pick one during onboarding, ask Studio in the app (“set me up with the HVAC playbook”), or call the setell_list_playbooks and setell_apply_playbook MCP tools from your own agent.
Are playbooks free?
Yes. Applying a playbook is free — it is the starting scaffold for your account, not a paid add-on.
