Quote templates

Overview

A template is your starting point for a quote — the line items you reach for again and again, already typed and priced. Build one for the work you do most, and your next quote starts half-done. You can build a template by hand, or drop in an old quote and let Setell read it for you.

Before you start

Nothing required. Templates work on every plan. (Reading line items from a dropped-in quote with our AI is a Pro feature — building by hand and importing a spreadsheet work on any plan.)

Steps

  1. Open Templates from the side menu.
  2. Click Create Template.
  3. Give it a Name (e.g. "Standard bracket run") and an optional Description.
  4. Add your line items — description, quantity, unit, and price. Or drop a .csv to bulk-import them.
  5. Click Save Template.
Already have an old quote or invoice on file? Drop it on the Drop your existing quote or invoice box at the top instead — Setell reads your business name, line items, and any contract wording and fills the template for you. That part is Pro; see docs/branding/custom-pdf.

What happens next

  • Your template shows up as a card on the Templates page. Click it to expand and edit anytime.
  • When you draft a quote, you can start from a template — the line items drop in, ready to tweak.
  • Setell still prices smartly: it adjusts from your own past jobs as you go.
  • One template is marked Default — that's the one used when you don't pick another.

Troubleshooting

  • My line items didn't import from the spreadsheet. Check the warnings shown under the drop box — they name the rows that were skipped and why (usually a bad price or quantity). Fix those rows and drop the file again.
  • The total looks wrong. The total is quantity × price across every line. Open the template and check each row's quantity and unit price.
  • I can't find Create Template. It's the violet button at the top right of the Templates page.
  • Still stuck → docs/reference/troubleshooting.

FAQ

  • How many templates can I have? As many as you need.
  • Can I change a template after I've used it? Yes. Editing a template only changes future quotes — quotes you've already sent are untouched.
  • Do templates lock my prices? No. They're a starting point. You edit any line on the quote before sending.
  • Can Boxx use my templates? Yes — ask Boxx to "quote with my bracket template" and it'll start from it.
