What is the Setell MCP

Overview

The Setell MCP lets you run Setell from inside another agent — Claude Code, Claude.ai, or ChatGPT — without opening the Setell app. You ask your agent "what's stale?" or "show me the Northwest Fabrication job," and it pulls the answer straight from your Setell account. It's the same Setell underneath; this is just a third way to drive it, for people who already work inside an agent all day.

The Setell MCP is a Pro feature. You can connect on Free to look around, but you need a Pro plan to use it day to day.

Who it's for

• Owners who run their shop from Claude Code and want Setell in the same window.
• A bookkeeper, fractional CFO, or "tech nephew" driving Setell for you from their own agent.
• Anyone who'd rather type "draft a follow-up for Northwest Fabrication" than click through screens.

If that's not you, you don't need this. The app and your inbox do everything the MCP does.

What it can do

Once it's connected, your agent can:

• Find jobs and customers — by status, by name, by how recent.
• Read a quote — line items, total, when it was sent and opened.
• Get your morning brief — new requests, quotes waiting on you, stale ones, this week's revenue.
• Check pricing before you send — Setell's pricing warning (Clear / Warn / Flag) for a quote.
• Draft, schedule, and send quotes — with the same confirm-before-it-goes-out safety as the app.
• Set how hands-off Setell is — Watch, Trust, or Auto, per action.

It's the same Setell, not a copy

Everything you do through the MCP shows up in the app, and everything in the app shows up here. Send a quote from Claude Code and it's there in your pipeline a second later. One account, one history — three ways in.

You're still in control

Sending a quote always needs a deliberate confirm step, even from an agent. Nothing goes out to a customer behind your back. As you build trust you can let Setell handle routine work on its own — same Watch / Trust / Auto modes as the app. See docs/autonomy/overview.

Good to know

• It runs on your own computer and talks to Setell over a secure connection. The agent never holds your data — every request checks back with Setell.
• Today it works best in Claude Code and desktop agents. Claude.ai's connector flow comes later.
