Create a job

Overview

A job is the one place a deal lives — the customer, what they need, the quote, and every step after. Most jobs start on their own when a request comes in by email or your intake form, but you can also create one by hand in a few seconds. One request, one job — you never make a second job for the same work.

Steps

  1. Open Jobs and click New Job.
  2. Fill in Customer Name and Customer Email — both required.
  3. Add the Company if there is one (optional).
  4. Type a short Job Description — what the customer wants, in your own words.
  5. Click Create Job. Setell opens the new job, ready for a quote.

What happens next

  • The job lands at the New stage with no quote yet.
  • From here you can Generate Draft (Setell drafts a quote) or Use Template to start from one you've saved.
  • The customer's details are saved, so the next time they come back Setell already knows them.

Troubleshooting

  • "Create Job" is greyed out / nothing happens. Customer Name, Customer Email, and Job Description are all required. Fill the empty one and try again.
  • Says the email is invalid. Use a full address (name@company.com). A typo here means the customer can't get the quote later.
  • You already have a job for this customer. That's fine — make a new job for new work. Keep one job per request so the history stays clean.

FAQ

  • Do I have to create jobs by hand? No. Most jobs start themselves from an inbound request. This is for when you want to add one yourself.
  • Can I change the customer's details later? Yes — edit them on the job page anytime.
  • What's the difference between the job description and the quote? The description is the plain-language request. The quote is the priced line items Setell builds from it.
