Start a quote from a roof

Overview

Territory and the property record tell you which roof to look at. Start a quote turns that roof into a job you can quote, without retyping the address or the roof facts.

It always runs in two steps. First Setell shows you a preview and writes nothing. Then you confirm, and Setell creates the job. The same two steps apply in the app, in Studio, and through your own agent.

One roof has one job. If the roof already has a job, Setell opens that job instead of making a second one.

Before you start

• The Roof Intelligence add-on has to be active. See docs/roof/overview.
• Find the roof in Territory (docs/roof/territory). You don't need a customer yet.

Start a quote in the app

1. Open the roof. Start a quote is on the property record header, beside Export report. It is also in the Territory drawer when you click a pin on the map, and on a record that has no property record yet.
2. Click Start a quote. A window titled Start a quote for this roof opens. It shows the job title (Roof at and the address), the roof's condition, its area in square feet, and which building on the parcel it is.
3. Read what the job will hold. The address becomes the job site. The roof facts go on the job as a private note that feeds the quote draft. The job links back to the record and the roof report PDF.
4. Optional: type a Customer name and Customer email. Leave them blank if you don't know who the customer is yet.
5. Click Create job. Setell opens the new job.

The customer fields are never filled in from the county's owner of record. If you leave them blank, the job gets a placeholder customer that you replace on the job page later.

Ask Setell instead

In Studio: "Start a quote on that roof on Southern Road." Setell shows you the same preview and asks before it creates anything. It only creates the job after you say yes.

What happens next

• The job starts at the New stage, like any other job (docs/quotes/create-job).
• Draft the quote as usual. The roof facts note is already on the job, so the draft can use it. See docs/quotes/draft-quote.
• Starting the job does not use an AI quote or an AI message. Drafting the quote afterwards does, as it does on any job.

Troubleshooting

• The window says "This roof already has a job". Someone on your account already started one. Click Open job to go to it.
• "Enter a full email address, or leave the email blank." The email is incomplete. Fix it, or clear the field.
• "The confirmation is missing, expired, or for a different roof." The preview is more than 30 minutes old. Click Start a quote again and confirm the new preview.
• "The customer must be the contact you are quoting, not the county owner of record." The customer name or company matches the county's owner of record. Setell does not copy the owner of record into your customers. Use the name of the person who actually asked for the work, or leave it blank.
• "Too many requests. Try again shortly." Wait a moment and try again.
• I see an offer instead of the preview. The add-on isn't active on your account. See docs/roof/overview.

FAQ

• Does this contact the property owner? No. It creates a job in your account. Nothing is sent to anyone.
• Can I start two jobs on the same roof? No. One roof has one job. Use the existing job for new work on that roof.
• Does it use my AI quota? Not to create the job. Drafting a quote on it counts as a normal draft.
