Stripe payments

Overview

Let your customers pay by card right from the quote — no chasing checks, no separate invoice email. When you turn on payments, the Deal Room (the branded link your customer opens) gets a Pay option backed by Stripe. They pay, and the job moves to Paid in your pipeline.

Before you start

  • Card payments are on every plan — no upgrade needed.
  • A signed quote: customers can pay once the quote is signed in the Deal Room.

Steps

  1. Go to Settings → Customer Portal.
  2. Turn on Invoice & collect payment with Stripe.
  3. That's it. The next quote your customer opens shows a Pay Now button in the quote once it's signed.

What your customer sees

  • They open your branded Deal Room link, view the quote, and sign.
  • A Pay Now button appears in the quote. They pay by card — no account, no login.
  • Totals show in your currency (set in Settings → Currency).

What happens next

  • When the payment goes through, the job moves to Paid in your pipeline automatically.
  • If QuickBooks is connected, the paid status lines up there too. See docs/integrations/quickbooks.
  • You can flip payments on or off per job, or set a default for all jobs, in Settings → Customer Portal.

Troubleshooting

  • Customer doesn't see a Pay option. Payment shows up only after the quote is signed. Check the job has reached Signed, and that Invoice & collect payment with Stripe is on.
  • "This quote link has expired." The customer's link timed out. Resend the quote to give them a fresh link.
  • "This quote version is no longer current." You revised the quote after they opened it. The customer should open the newest link — same address, latest version.
  • Still stuck → docs/reference/troubleshooting.

FAQ

  • Do I need a Stripe account of my own? No setup beyond flipping the toggle — payments run through Setell's Stripe. Direct merchant payouts are on the roadmap.
  • What can customers pay with? Card, through Stripe's secure checkout.
  • Does the job update when they pay? Yes — it moves to Paid on its own.
  • Can I turn payments off for one job? Yes. Set a default in Settings and override per job.
