Overview

Quick answers to the questions owners ask most. If you don't see yours, the troubleshooting page covers the "it's not working" stuff, and each feature has its own page.

Getting started

  • What does Setell actually do? It does your quoting end to end. Setell drafts the quote, you review and send it, your customer opens a branded link to view, sign, and pay, and the job tracks itself from there. See docs/getting-started/what-is-setell.
  • Do I need a credit card to try it? No. You start with 14 days of unlimited Pro — no card — then move to Free (3 AI quotes a month).
  • How fast can I send my first quote? A few minutes. Set up your brand, create a job, draft a quote, send. See docs/getting-started/first-quote.
  • Is my customer data private? Yes. Your jobs, quotes, and customers are yours — kept separate from every other business on Setell.

Quotes & jobs

  • How does Setell price my quotes? It starts from sensible defaults, then learns from your jobs and (if connected) your QuickBooks history — so your pricing gets sharper the more you use it.
  • My customer wants changes. Do I start over? No — never. You revise, and Setell makes a new version (v2, v3…) while keeping the old one. The customer's link always shows the latest. See docs/quotes/revisions.
  • Do revisions cost me an AI credit? No. Only the first draft of a job uses a credit. Revisions are free.
  • Can I edit the prices Setell suggests? Yes. Every line item is editable — change quantities, prices, or wording before you send.
  • I sent a quote by mistake. Can I take it back? Yes — Recall quote withdraws it so the customer can no longer view or accept it, and moves the job back to Revising. The email already in their inbox can't be retracted, but the link stops working.

Boxx (your agent)

  • What is Boxx? Boxx is your Setell agent — ask it in plain English ("quote 50 brackets for Northwest Fabrication," "follow up with Dana") and it does the work. It's the same Setell underneath the buttons. See docs/boxx/meet-boxx.
  • Will Boxx send things to my customers without asking? No. Boxx starts in Watch mode — it drafts and asks before anything goes out. You can let it handle routine work on its own later, when you're ready. See docs/autonomy/overview.
  • Can I talk to Boxx instead of typing? Yes — tap the mic and say it.

The customer's experience (Deal Room)

  • Does my customer have to create an account? No. They open one link — no login, no app.
  • What can they do in the Deal Room? View the quote (and a clean PDF), approve it, sign the contract, and pay by card. Chat is a Pro feature.
  • Does it look like my business? Yes — your logo, your brand color, your details. It's an extension of your shop, not a Setell page. See docs/deal-room/overview.

Plans & billing

  • What are the plans? Free, Business ($49/mo), and Pro ($99/mo). The full breakdown is in docs/reference/whats-gated.
  • What's the difference between Business and Pro? Business adds QuickBooks, pricing memory, and 50 quotes a month. Pro is unlimited, plus custom PDF/Word templates and the agent (MCP) surface.
  • Is there a trial? Yes — every account starts with 14 days of unlimited Pro, free, then moves to the Free plan (3 quotes a month). Nothing's deleted. See docs/account/trials.
  • What happens if I cancel? Paid features switch off and you return to Free-tier limits. Nothing is deleted. Resubscribe and it all comes back.

Integrations

  • Do I need QuickBooks? No — Setell works without it. If you connect it (Business or Pro), invoices sync out and payments sync back, and Setell learns from your invoice history. See docs/integrations/quickbooks.
  • How do I get paid? Card payments run through Stripe in the Deal Room, on every plan. See docs/deal-room/payments.
  • Can Setell use my own email address? Yes — verify your sending domain so quotes go out from your address and land in inboxes, not spam. See docs/integrations/sending-domain.
