Refer a business and get paid
Overview
If you know someone who quotes for a living, you can refer them and earn on it. Every Setell account gets a referral link — no application, no partner status, no cap on how many people you refer.
The standard offer is 50% of what your referral pays Setell in their first year, paid out as they pay. Your own page shows the exact rate and term your code carries, so read the number there rather than assuming.
Your code belongs to your account, because that account is who gets paid. You have to be signed in for any of this to work.
Before you start
- A Setell account, signed in. Free accounts can refer — you don't need a paid plan.
Get your link
- Go to go.setell.ai/refer.
- Your link is already there —
go.setell.ai/login?ref=yourcode. Click Copy. - Want something you'd say out loud? Under Make it yours, replace the random characters with your name or your shop, then Claim. Lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens only.
Changing your code stops the old link working, so change it before you share it, not after.
Invite people by email
In Settings, the Invite & earn card sends your link out by email — up to 20 addresses at a time. The same card shows how many people you've invited and how many have converted.
What happens next
- Someone opens your link and signs up. The referral is attributed when they finish onboarding.
- When they start paying, a commission accrues for you on each payment at your code's rate, for the length of the term.
- Each amount waits out a hold period — 120 days by default — before it can be paid, so refunds and chargebacks have time to land first.
- Payout is arranged with you directly. There's no payout screen in the app yet.
The three things that quietly cost people their commission
- Not being signed in. A code has to belong to an account. That's why the refer page asks you to log in first.
- Switching devices mid-signup. If someone clicks your link on their phone and signs up on a laptop, the code can get lost. Tell them to stay on one device — or to type your code into the Have a referral code? box on the sign-up page, which works just as well.
- Referring yourself. A second account, or paying for both with the same card, gets flagged and held. Payments that are later refunded or charged back don't pay commission either.
Troubleshooting
- "That code will not work." It's taken, reserved, or uses characters other than lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens. Try another.
- My friend signed up but nothing shows. Attribution happens when they finish onboarding, not at signup. Give it until they're through. If they never clicked the link, there's nothing to attribute — ask whether they entered the code on the sign-up page.
- A referral shows as invited but not converted. Converted means they've subscribed. Until then it stays pending.

FAQ
- Do I need to be on a paid plan to earn? No. Any signed-in account can refer.
- Is there a limit? No cap on how many businesses you refer.
- How long does attribution last? A click stays attributable for 90 days.
- What if they cancel? Commission accrues on what they actually paid. Refunded or disputed payments don't pay out.
- Can I refer someone who already has an account? No — the link credits new signups.
