Chrome extension

Overview

The Setell Chrome extension lets you send an inbound request from your Gmail straight into Setell with one click. A customer emails you asking for a quote; you hit Send to Setell in Gmail, and it lands in your inbox as a new job — ready to draft. No copy-paste, no forwarding.

Before you start

  • The Setell Chrome extension installed in Chrome.
  • An extension key from Setell — this tells the extension which account to send into. (Steps below.)
  • The extension is on every plan.

Steps

1 — Create your extension key in Setell

  1. Go to Settings and find the Chrome Extension API Key card.
  2. Click Create Extension Key.
  3. Copy the key right away — it's shown once and starts with setell_ext_.

2 — Connect the extension

  1. Open the Setell extension in Chrome. In API URL, enter your Setell address and click Connect.
  2. Paste your key into API Key, then click Test Connection to confirm it works.

3 — Use it

  1. Open a customer email in Gmail. Click Send to Setell. It arrives in your Setell inbox as a job.

What happens next

  • The email becomes a new job in your inbox. From there you (or Boxx) draft the quote like any other request.
  • The extension key is per-account and only one is active at a time. Minting a new one replaces the old.

Troubleshooting

  • "Test Connection" fails. Re-check the API URL and that the API Key is pasted with no extra spaces. If it still fails, rotate the key in Setell (see below) and paste the new one.
  • I lost my key. Keys are shown only once. In Settings → Chrome Extension API Key, click Rotate to mint a fresh key, then paste the new one into the extension.
  • Send to Setell button isn't in Gmail. Make sure the extension is installed and enabled, and that you're on mail.google.com.
  • A key leaked. Click Revoke on the Chrome Extension API Key card to kill it immediately, then create a new one.
  • Still stuck → docs/reference/troubleshooting.

FAQ

  • Why do I need a key? It's how the extension knows which Setell account to send into — it keeps your inbox yours.
  • Can I have more than one key? One active key per account. Rotating replaces it.
  • Is this the same as connecting Gmail? No. The extension captures one email at a time on your click — you stay in control of what goes in.
  • Where do messages land? As new jobs in your Setell inbox.
