Set up your inbound

Overview

"Inbound" means letting the work come to you instead of typing every job in by hand. Setell gives you two ways to do it: a quote-request form you put on your website, and a Chrome extension that adds a Send to Setell button to Gmail. Either one turns a customer request into a job in Setell, ready to quote.

Before you start

  • 2 minutes.
  • For the website form: access to edit your site (to paste one line of code).
  • For the Gmail button: Google Chrome and the Setell Chrome extension installed.

Option A — Put a quote-request form on your website

  1. Go to Settings → Embed Quote Form and find the Website Quote Request Form card.
  2. Click Generate Embed Key. Setell creates your key and shows a Preview of the form.
  3. Click Copy Embed Code and paste that one line into your website where you want the form.
  4. Customers fill in their name, email, and what they need (with optional job details), then click Submit request.

Option B — Add a "Send to Setell" button to Gmail

  1. In Settings, find the Chrome Extension API Key card and click Create Extension Key.
  2. Copy the key right away — it won't be shown again. (Lost it? Click Rotate for a new one.)
  3. Install the Setell Chrome extension, open its popup, and paste your key, then Connect.
  4. In Gmail, open a customer email. Click the Send to Setell button in the toolbar to push it in as a job.

What happens next

  • A new job appears in Setell from each submission or pushed email.
  • Setell reads the request and gets the quote started for you, so you open it already drafted.
  • You review, edit, and send — same as any quote. See docs/getting-started/first-quote.

Troubleshooting

  • The website form shows "Missing embed key." The code was pasted without the key, or the key was rotated. Re-copy with Copy Embed Code and paste the full line again.
  • A form submission didn't create a job. Confirm the form on your site uses your current embed key. If you rotated the key, the old embedded form stops working until you paste the new code.
  • The Gmail button isn't showing. Refresh Gmail after installing the extension. The button sits in the email toolbar, next to actions like Archive and Delete.
  • The extension says it's not connected. Open the extension popup and paste your key, then Connect. If it still fails, Rotate the key in Settings and paste the new one.
  • I lost my extension key. It's only shown once. Click Rotate to make a new one — the old one stops working.
  • Still stuck → docs/reference/troubleshooting.

FAQ

  • Do I have to connect Gmail? No. On Setell today you don't connect a Gmail account — you either add the website form or use the Chrome extension's Send to Setell button.
  • Can I use both? Yes. The website form and the Gmail button feed the same inbox.
  • Is the website form branded? The form Setell hosts carries your name, logo, and color. The embeddable version drops into your own site's layout.
  • What does the customer fill in? Name, email, and what they need — required. There's an optional Job details section for material, dimensions, quantity, and a deadline.
  • Where do I find my keys? In Settings — the Embed Quote Form section (Website Quote Request Form card) for the embed key, and the Chrome Extension API Key card for the extension.
